All About Me
I practice as a Shaman, Sacred Space Holder, and therapist. Spirituality is essential to my life and I bring Spirit and my Helping Guides with me when I engage in a ceremony, ritual, or therapy session. I do not believe healing is a linear process or has an end goal. There are deep wounds and patterns that we continue to work on throughout our lives. This doesn't mean we are wrong or bad, it means we are human.
I approach counseling from a liberation, anti-oppression therapy perspective. I’m concious of systems oppression and how this may be playing a role in your struggles. We do not live in a vacuum, the oppression in society has an impact on our mental health. I encourage mindfulness, skills development, and insight into your own healing.

As a therapist, I specialize in working with the LGBTGEQIAP+ community, particularly transgender and gender diverse clients. I work with many queer folx who have experienced religious trauma. I found typical counseling approaches do not facilitate deep healing from religious trauma. I call upon my work as a Shaman and Sacred Space Holder to help folx heal from religious trauma. I have worked with trans/gender expansive clients for 14 years and provide continuing education trainings for counselors who want to be competent in working with trans/gender-diverse clients.

I incorporate spirituality and astrology into my therapy work. With your permission, I will consult with my astrology mentor, Liz Gunn, about how themes from your birth chart are apparent in your life. This will include taking your birth chart information (date, time, and place) to Liz along with recording sessions to listen to with Liz. The purpose of this is to help me grow in incorporating astrology into my work. Additionally, I am training as a shaman and offer shamanic healing within therapy including journey work, soul retrieval, ritual, and ceremony.

I identify as a White, queer, genderqueer, non-disabled, neurodivergent person. I offer therapy virtually throughout North Carolina. I graduated from Appalachian State University Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master's program in 2011 with a concentration in Marriage and Family therapy, and certificates in Addictions Counseling and Expressive Arts Therapy. I worked in community mental health for 8.5 years. During this time, I worked with children, adolescents, adults through individual therapy and group therapy. I also worked as an intensive in-home team lead and day treatment supervisor. I started her private practice in August, 2020.

I'm a member of the Counselors for Social Justice, SAIGE-NC (Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender-Expansive Identities of North Carolina), and North Carolina Counseling Association. I believe COUNSELING IS POLITICAL and am a fierce activist within the profession.
I practice soul-care by camping with my partner, son, and dog, watching British television, hiking, practicing Julia Child recipes, reading, working puzzles, and listening to 80s hairbands.
